Rethread, Repair, or Rebuild??

I have an 02 XTL 4.6 and about a month ago the 3rd chamber blew the plug and broke the coil. Bought a new plug and coil to install but the plug will not tighten. How can I tell if I can just rethread it? Are the repair kits sold at auto part stores any good? Do I need the kit that comes with a different kind of plug or a regular rethreader bit and just use a regular OEM plug?

i recomend putting in a helicoil, if you cant do it bring it to a shop. the tritans are famus for it, every one of mine have blown out, and been helicoiled,since i havent had any problems

i havent had any plug problems yet on this one...knock on wood.

No problems on mine and it's 13yrs old.
