reving up

I was at a stop light and my 03 expedition started to rev up and down..felt like it wanted to turn off but it didn't. .it felt like it was jerking..any ideas what it could be

Could be many things but the first that come to mind are vacuum leak, IAC valve or fuel related issue.

Maybe even torque converter but feel that the jerking may be more of a result of the reving.

How can I trouble shoot?

Start by checking the vacuum lines, clean the IAC, check the fuel filter....to start
