just returned from a week long trip down to San Diego and enjoyed a much needed vacation. On the way down I tangled with a Semi who blew out his front tire. It completely ripped off his front fender and some other metal pieces. Being right behind him I ran over everything. Honestly the lift saved me from a ton of damage as I cleared just about all of the debris. I did hit a large piece of metal that was dragged about 10 feet then exited out under the right rear tire. I stopped at the nearest exit since the freeway is way too dangerous. It gashed the tire and I could hear a loud "hiss" but still drove another 60 miles to our condo. I could feel no drag or anything from the tire. It had about 10psi when I pulled into the condo. considering the size of the object, I was pretty impressed with the durability of the BFG A/T as I expected massive carnage under the vehicle! Lucky there were only minor scrapes to the frame. Now its time to find a replacement tire!

drove back to Vegas on the stock size spare and included a pic for those curious what the stock 265 70 17 looks like with the Truxxx lift. I also pulled off the stock running boards a while back.

No it split all the way thru. I don't know how it was still holding air except for the very strong sidewalls. Very impressed with the bfg's. Still pricing a.new replacement as well as ebay and craigslist. I am not sure a 35 would fit in the spare cavity underneath. Not sure what the exterior spare setup would cost

I'd say you're lucky to get home with that tire like that!! Did you have any problems with the mismatched tires in the rear?

no problems, but the speedo is a little more accurate now. Since its a rear tire, not sure how the vehicle senses speed? If it takes a while to find a good replacement, I may just put the stocks back on but I only have 3 good ones so the spare is getting used regardless!

picked up a replacement tire and 1 extra for $175 on craigslist. Lucky to get the same BFG A/Ts with no cuts or plugs. one measures 10/32 and the other 11/32. has anyone tried to mount anything larger than stock in the spare location. I dont think it will fit but I havent looked yet either.

on my 01 i can mount a 35 in the tire carrier. doesnt exactly fit in there but fits nice and snug out of the way with no interference from my exhaust. if i get a chance, i will find a pic and show you how it looks under the truck.
