Hello,

Most likely also a cop/sparkplug problem but I want to tell the problem, maybe someone has another idea.

Most of the times when the rainseason is here at Curacao with a start it runs rough. idles smooth but with acceleration its running rough. When you kick the pedal it's acceleration goes smoother.
The rough acceleration is not always there, most of the time it runs great.
when it;s running rough it is when the enigne is cold started and then a couple of minutes.
When a disconnect a cop at idling you will almost not hear any difference.
I played with the # 1,2,5,6.

This morning a checked all the cop's and discovered that one boldhole was cracked and the cop was not properly mounted. also all of the clips, fuelinjectors, cop's are not as thight as the should be.

The sparkplugs are 2 brands, motorcraft and autolite.
The cop's where also different brands.

I think I'm going to change all of the cop's and sparkplugs to be sure that's not the problem and fix all of the clips.

now the fuelinjectors.
How many miles can they run and when do you change them.
Car has 190K'.
Ultrasoon cleaning is more expansive than buy a set of rebuilds for $100.

I would like to hear your opinion.

I'm normally driving european cars with small engines like 1.6Liters etc so a V8 is new to me, I know, a fuelinjector is a fuelinjector.

Regards

Alex

I would throw a scanner on it. Most auto parts places will do it for free. I had a similar problem on my non-cop 97 and replaced coil packs just to find out that an former (and I emphasize "former") mechanic stole the plug wires from me leaving the old set on. Invest in a simple Actron Scanner for $80.00. It should tell you if there is low voltage or a misfire and on which cylinder. If not, AdvanceAuto uses a more sophisticated scanner that should show "warm" codes as well as the "hot" codes such as misfire, etc.

thanks!

Maybe the tool is a good idea since there is no garage here at Curacao who can scan my Expy.
There was one but no one knows where the tools went to when the shop closed.
The Ford dealer here only scans fords from 2003 and younger.

At the moment we are in Pompano beach and I ordered new motorcraft plugs en 8 new cop's at global-automotive on ebay.
Here the price of 8 is the same as 1 at Curacao.
