I am looking to fab up some type of barrier to cover the rear lift window on Expi/EL. I've scoured the internet for this and came up with nada. Would like to keep it clean with minimal damage to the interior. The intended purpose is to be able to leave the dog in the rear cargo area and open the rear window yet keep him secure in the back and keep hands from going in to pet him. I'm looking to secure it to the rear lift door inside so the window and door has normal function and I can get him in/out without having to remove the adjustable dog gates you can buy at the store. This will only happen in the cooler months when we go to the mountains and he will also have a fan inside and water as well. He will not be in there for long periods. Any one have any ideas for something like this or pictures to contribute?

I made something simliar for my jeep.

I used threaded rivet inserts and stainless screws. On the plastic trim measure in (away from window) 1/2" and drill a hole for the threaded rivet insert, apply rivet to the rivet gun and press into hole, squeeze rivet gun and done. You just installed a threaded insert. Repeat every 6" (or what you deem appropriate for the dog) around the trim around the window.

You can make a screen from a heavy duty pet-proof screen or the nylon fence material. Oth available at Tractor Supply. If you have any sewing skills i would make a cutout the size of the window plus whatever is needed to attach to the threaded inserts and make a simple border. Seatbelt like nylon webbing is available at most craft stores and a standard sewing machines will penetrate it with no problem. Hell you could use an old pair of jeans.

I don't have pics of the jeep anymore, but it worked well enough to keep our 120lb German Shepard inside a YJ (swapped in a TJ roll bar with custom cage) with no issues. The only pain in the azz is having to screw it in. I put it up and left it in all season until it was time for the hardtop.
