Sometimes my screen & audio does not turn on when I start my 2018 Expedition. It typically doesn’t happen in the morning but whenever I turn the truck off during the day, it typically doesn’t work when I start again during the same day. I’ve tried holding power & next on the system but that doesn’t work. After driving for 20-30 minutes, the system will turn on.

Anyone else experiencing this or know what the issue could be? TIA

This happened to us on Saturday. 2019 Expedition. We turned the car off, came back an hour later and when we started it we saw the Ford logo and it worked. Not sure what happened but this is the first time this has happened.

I think I had something similar happen about 6 months ago. It happened a couple times in about a week or two. If I remember correctly, I did a master reset through the sync menu once it turned on and i haven’t had it happen since.

Had this happen a number of times on my 2018 Platinum. The first time it happened was during a Sirius/XM update. I've found that shutting the vehicle off, opening and closing the driver's door and waiting 30 seconds before starting seems to fix it

Will try, thanks! It’s become a daily issue... no issue in the morning but the evening 1-hour drive home from work without music is getting old. Will take to dealership if it continues.

I'd also try pulling the battery terminals for 1-2minutes as well... Good 'ol unplug and plug it back in. Buddy had to do this recently on his Acura RDX for the same issue.

Hold on power button on radio and next track at the same time for like 3 seconds and it'll reboot it, even in flight/while driving, etc. Problem solved...

I’ve started with this & unfortunately it doesn’t work for me very often. It did work a few times initially but now it doesnt.

You guys might think I’m crazy, but my F-150 would do this every time I had my IPhone hooked to another Bluetooth device like a speaker or non Apple earphones. The phone would still try to stay paired with the device in my house. The Sync did not like what ever was going on. The screen would not come on and I couldn’t manually turn it on. Once I turned off the truck and was out of range of the other devices it would start up just fine. It took me forever to figure this out. If I still had my F-150 I could show you guys. I have since got in the habit of turning of the Bluetooth speaker before I leave the house and use AirPods now.

Mmmmm, strange, it doesn't happen often on mine, but happens enough where that trick comes in handy. You still under warranty? I'd ask for it to be replaced if so. If not, there is a sweet 12" retrofit you can do!

This has worked for me. Press the screen off button and then press it again. Fixes it for me every time.

I believe it is the button directly under the 6 next to the Tune dial.

Many Excellent suggestions. Fozzy is dead on though. Sync 3.X on some revisions does not like sharing the iPhone. 3.4 20136 does not appear to have that issue, neither did 3.4 19274.

If you do not have anything else connected to your iPhone, I would recommend a trip to the dealer. Make sure you record video of it having the issue. Especially if you are still under warranty. You could have a APIM(Computer that controls Sync) going bad. It might just need a reload, but I suggest getting it documented in your vehicles records just in case it gets worse. Don't want to have to pay for a replacement out of warranty.
