I feel like this has been answered in other posts but I just can't find it. Hoping to get some help in this forum. Just got a 2020 Expedition with a RSE. I just cant figure out how to get a movie that is on an SD card or USB to play. I am using an SD card that goes into one of those USB adapters. The card is formatted as FAT32 (saw that in a diff thread) and the movie is .mp4. Its not a protected file or anything. When I plug the USB in and select USB as the source on the RSE I see some pictures that I put on the SD card but no movies. I see the movies when I plug the SD card into any of my computers, just not on the Ford RSE. Please advise.

The movie files need to be a specific type and encoding. The RSE manual has a table with details of which file formats and movie encodes it will accept.

I also plug the SD card straight into the driver side RSE screen (on its left side). Why bother with USB?

Fizzy - I'm running into the same issue. I'll review the manual again to see what changes need to be made with the encoding.

Do you recall your encoding settings? I'm using Handbrake.

That's the table I was thinking of. There's another table that lists compatible resolutions and aspect ratios too I think.

Thx for this. The movie is .mp4. I don’t actually know what encoding is or how to check it. Is there a way to check it or should all MP4 files work?

is it possible my SD card isn’t compatible with the RSE?

PS - I use the SD card with the USB adapter simply bc that’s what I already had. Once I figure out how to play movies I’ll ditch the USB adapter.

MP4 is just the container. The envelope, so to speak. What application do you use to watch them on your computer? And what did you use to convert them?

The movie was downloaded from a friend over internet for lack of a better word. It was not from iTunes or Amazon or anything. On my computer it opened using the default windows media player.

It's very unlikely to be in a codec that the RSE system understands.

You should grab HandBrake (free software) and convert it to one of the extensions and codecs in that table. It should work then.

Following up on this thread . . . The movies all work just fine except the audio is too quiet. I typically listed to radio at 5 or 6 and have to turn the volume up to 20 for Bluetooth RSE to listen through the speakers. The problem is that it defaults to the radio when you turn the car off and blasts crazy loud when we turn the car back on.

Is there something with formatting you recommend to make the audio better? The video is just fine.
