hello all,

I am new to this forum. I have my late fathers expedition that I am getting ready to sell for my mother. It has a couple issues which I think I should fix first and hope you can help me.
1. The drivers seat won't move forward or back. I can go up and down, not back and forth. When you move the switch you do get a click, but that's all.
2. The side view mirrors can't be controlled by the adjustment switch. They do move when you put it in reverse, but trying to adjust them (either one) with the small control in the cab doesn't work at all.
3. Any opinions on what you think I should ask for a 03 Eddie Bauer with 88k miles on it in metro Atlanta?

Thanks!

With no other mechanical issues and if the paint's in good shape the Expy is worth around $4,000 in the Atlanta area. You didn't say whether it was 2 wheel drive, or 4 wheel drive. If the roof channels are rust pitted the value can drop a lot. Water sits up in those channels and cause the roof to rust out. If the front radiator support is rusted out, same thing.
The side mirror issue may be as simple as a faulty switch or just dirty contacts in the switch. Worst case if spraying it out with electrical contact cleaner doesn't fix it you can replace the switch for about $40 from Rock Auto. http://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog/...cal-switch+&+relay,outside+mirror+switch,4572
Just use a putty knife to pry/release the switch from it's hole.
The driver's seat not moving back and forth: Make sure there's no coins jammed in the seat track, that happens a lot. Use a bright flashlight and look in the tracks, especially the inboard one closest to the center console. The switch can be kind of stubborn sometimes too. Make sure you are pushing it pretty firmly back and forth. Try it with no weight in the seat. If you can't get it to move just leave it alone, it's not worth repairing if you're going to sell the truck anyway. The foot pedals move fore and aft anyway.

As far as the mirrors and the seats, I'd check fuses relating to those items first. You can buy or borrow a cheap continuity light. It tests for power, continuity of circuits. Don't know your electrical/ mechanical ability, but I wouldn't start throwing parts at the problem, till your sure you've got power/ ground to these items. A simple Fulton county test of the seat motors is to lightly tap on them and see if they move with the switch afterwards. My ex is from Atlanta! As far as the roof leave it be, you live in a humid rust inducing town. Keep us posted. You can look in the owners manual for fuses/ relays, or download a copy. Moose. I've got a manual for an earlier model don't know if it's the same, I'll post later what I find.

I don't think the seat issue would be a fuse.
He indicated that he gets a "click" sound when pushing the switch. Sounds more like a stuck motor or a jammed track

True, I agree didn't think about the click till you mentioned it. The #4 fuse in my 2000 owners book controls the seats, and mirrors. It's the fuse box in the car. Like BerndM said chances are it's the motor, and I tend to agree, but wouldn't hurt to check both sides of fuse for power and continuity.

my 05 navigator has similar issue on the seats, but much worse: It doesn't move at all! Regardless of direction! I do hear a click on all the directions, but it just doesn't move.
Any suggestions will be highly appreciated.
Thanks.

Hey guys,
The seat actually fixed itself with some help from me. Pushing the seat forward while pushing the controls forward. It must have been jammed. BTW - I cleaned it up real nice and put it on CL for $5k and people are knocking down my door trying to get it.

Well that's good news, like one of the other members stated maybe it was gunk on the track. I can just imagine what mine must look like. Hope it sells soon.
