My truck just snapped the belt and wrapped around the fan base. Had inspected the belt but thought it was okay. They make a tool for checking the belt, will post picture but as it wears the grooves get deeper and thinner.

How old or how many miles on the old belt before it failed ? Any other reason it might've failed other than age ? Pulley's in good shape ?

Bought truck used, had about 120,000 miles on it then, has 135,000 now. Visual inspection of belt was good, before fall trip to Florida. Pulleys are all tight and noise free but did have to clean flat non groved of burnt rubber. Luckily it broke in parking lot and not on freeway, hope this post helps others.

Very well could've been the original belt then. How's that top radiator hose look ? It gets all the heat.
