Hey All,

Over the last two weeks I've noticed some shaking at idle. Now here's the deal, it's not that bad... BUT it's definitely there. Two months ago, I had the misfire cylinder issue, and I've replaced all of the spark plugs so I'm fairly sure it's not related to a miss-fire; it's also not lacking any power and the shake goes away while driving. It does not have a check-engine light, and there are no codes being thrown so I'm not really sure where else to go.

I also notice that I have the u-joint start squeak & small clunk when I accelerate hard and quickly on the throttle, so I am pretty sure I need to replace those. Could it be related to that?

this is more of an annoying problem than a performance issue but I'd still like to figure it out. Anyone have any thoughts or suggestions? Things I should look for or check?

Thanks!

Easiest way to find a shaking idle is to smoke the engine. You can do yourself or pay a shop. Any vacuum leak will show up as smoke from that gasket/sueface

If you can get your hands on a scan tool that does mode 6 data it would show the misfire counters - even if they're not enough to set a code. Test $53.

You can also take apart and clean your EGR and IAC (idle air control valve) which would be a likely culprit.

Also, with said scan tool you can check your fuel trims and identify a vacuum leak really easy and from the comfort of the captains chair w/ the AC on - just the way I like.
