I have a 2001 Expedition that is 3 years old with 73K miles. I am overall happy with the trcuk and plan to keep it. I am due for new shocks and wanted to get some advice on what to buy. I do not do any off road driving, mainly just highway and city driving, no rugged terrain really. I have read a lot about the Rancho RS9000X adjustable shocks, and they get great reviews but I don't know if they are necessary for the normal type of driving I do. In other words, are they overkill for my purposes? I found a place online that sells the set of 4 for $290 with free shipping. I am just trying to determine if that is more than what I need. Suggestions? Thanks!

Bandy,

What website are you going to buy yours from? I was going to buy the RSX's and I do pretty much the same type of driving that you do. I will have mine on in the next 2 weeks for sure and will then be driving to Hilton Head. I will let u know how mine did if u haven't gotten urs done by then.
BTW, there a couple of threads about the shocks somewhere on the site but I couldn't find them quickly and I have to sleep now before I drop.

Peace,

Joe

Bandy/dathumper,
Hopefully this link will work correctly. It is from this website and discusses Rancho and Bilstein shocks. I went for the Rancho RSX shocks because I do 99%+ on road driving and didn't figure that I would actually adjust the shocks after the initial setting. The extra $20/30 a shock seemed high. I got mine on sale at 4 wheel parts for $40/each. I was told that Rancho and Monroe(shocks from Pepboys) are made by the same company. Not sure about that but went for the Ranchos anyway. I love them and since my Expy had 100,000 miles on it I decided it was a good time to change them out. Good luck with your decision.
