should 4L whine?

Hi. I've had my expedition for 4 days. While we were test driving it, 4L made a whining noise, even when driving straight. Is it supposed to do that? Or is their mechanic avoiding work? TIA

You will hear gear noise in 4L, but it shouldn't be excessive.

How fast were you going? It shouldn't make too much noise, but you will be able to discern it is engaged.
