I have a 99 EB with about 120k and I've had pretty much the same problem. I get a shudder/vibration/grinding sound when I accelerate then it goes away, but it doesn't matter if it's an incline or flat. I had the trans flushed and I added some Dr. Lube. I had the rear diff fluid changed and I added the friction modifier. It seemed to have improved after the rear diff was done, but now it's just as bad as before. I had the plugs changed in February before we made a cross country move. I thought maybe a coil could be bad, but I'm not getting any codes. I've read that the u-joints or torque converter could be a possible cause. I first started noticing the shudder back in February while pulling a u-haul trailer across the country, but funds have been a little short, so I've had no choice but to drive it. Is it possible that the rear diff is shot since I've been driving it like this so long? I've found this forum to be a great resource and entertaing too. I appreciate all the info you all have taken the time to share.

Go to Oriellys and buy some stuff to go in the trans. Its for torque converter shutter. Its like $8 and comes in a lil red tube. Pour it in your trans fill tube and it should fix it. It did mine in about 10 mins. Hope this helps

I had same type of issue and it was my limited slip making tge noise. Found out everytime air got low in one tire on rear the noise would start. Bought all new tires and changed rear fluid and added limited slip conditioner. No more noise even under hard accelleration uphill.

It could also be worn U-joints on the driveshafts. Kind of depends on the shutter you might be feeling, as certain shutters feel different than others (I realize that probably isn't helpful...). Also does it change while turning? I have gotten shutters out of my wheel hubs when they go bad. It would change as you enter turns and what not. Also, just something to consider but you might want to ensure that the tires are still properly balanced. I know of friends who have had their truck shake like it would fall apart, and it turned out to be an unbalanced tire.
