I have 08 EL Limited and I would like to replace either the glass ( preferrable ) or whole unit with newer models that have convex section in them. Is this doable?

Both options are do-able but no cheap. The mirror glass is probably the least expensive but for some reason the passenger side glass is over $200 for the new style with the convex mirror. I think the driver side is under $100. The entire mirror assembly would be considerably more especially for your Limited because it has the power fold option.

Thanks
I may still check into it. I really feel there is a blind spot and the older mirrors leave a little to be desired. Plus the like the factory look

They may not look exactly like the factory insert mirrors, but I found some triangle shaped small stick on mirrors that fit perfectly into the upper right hand corner of my existing mirrors. They work great for the blind spot.

One of the things you can do instead of modifying your mirrors to eliminate blind spots is set up your mirrors a certain way. I've done this for years since I learned of it:

Drivers side mirror:
- Lean your head against your window while keeping your back against a portion of the seat.
- Adjust your mirror until the right side of the mirror barely displays the side of your truck.

Passenger side mirror:
- Move so your head is between your seats toward the middle of the seating area while keeping your back against a portion of the seat. Your head will probably be over the center console.
- Adjust your mirror until the left side of the mirror barely displays the side of your truck.

You'll notice that when you see vehicles drive up past what you can see in your rear-view mirror, you'll now see them in your side mirrors when you would not have otherwise. It's pretty cool! It is always good to double check what your mirrors are telling you.

Hi 2LMAKER,

Have you checked out Official Ford Parts Site | Buy Motorcraft & OEM Ford Parts Online | FordParts.com for the specific model year mirrors you'd like? Many times they list which model years are compatible for particular parts. You can also contact the parts department of your local dealership; they'll be happy to assist!

Curtw48 do you remember where you got them or manufactor?

tojohnso thanks, I will give your method a try.

This is my first Expedition, matter of fact first Ford! I have driven GM SUV's and wife had a Durango and just seems those mirrors had wider field. These have to be perfect for any chance of eliminating blind spot.

Blind spot

I played with it a little but ended picking up couple of those rectangle convex mirrors.
I tend to load up interior,so lose use of interior rear view mirror. I kinda like being able to see what is coming up along side of me and have ability to see if someone is in blind spot.

I will probably end up looking into the factory mirrors as I like the factory look.

We carry the convex mirror replacement mirror glass for the 2008 Expedition.

Tony I think he's talking about the one that has a small convex blind spot mirror in the upper corner of each mirror like the 2013 models have.
