Hi all-

I suspect this could be the case. I have a few electrical gremlins - nothing serious.

Items:
  • chime stays on intermittently after taking key out of ignition
  • rear wiper works, then not works
  • door locks pop 'unlocked' after locking via switch on armrest/door or two button on outside door sill - this happens when the chime continues...
Backtrack-

So, I cleaned the battery terminals a week ago and did the baking soda/water cleanup. I was getting gas/petrol and went to start at gas station and got a strange whining from the center console. No start. No clicky clicky like a dead battery tho.

So I start simple - look at the battery. The + terminal was loose. Tried to clamp her down with socket but the terminal/cam was not cooperating. I gave it a whack with the ratchet handle to drop the connector onto the post - voila. I believe cleaning the corrosion out made her loose.

Q: has anyone else experienced minor/major electrical gremlins with a funky battery?

I noticed after just a week and half, more corrosion than normal so the battery is sweating. Need to swap I believe and good time to do since I'm replacing the + terminal.

Notes: multi-meter shows battery at 12.8V at rest (not running), and 14.4V at post and terminal w/ AC running.

Any thoughts appreciated,
Dick

Switch to a maintenance free battery to get rid of the corrosion issue.

Check the electrical section on here. Plenty of articles with your problems.

Oddly enough it is a maintenance free battery and battery case shown no signs of bulging or damage. Looks in good shape.

I will look for the electrical section later today.

Thanks,
Dick
