Personally I wouldn't worry about it for another at least 10,000 miles but changing the belt on the 5.4 is by far the easiest belt change I've ever encountered... takes 5-10 minutes if you have the belt tensioner tool

Amazon had Continental Elite serp belts for about $10 a few months back. I bought a couple. One of the reviewers said Continental bought Goodyears belt division? It looks like the original Gatorback, diamond or square shaped nubs instead of V's, where yours are showing age, if that makes any sense.

To answer the question - yours will last you until exactly the most inopportune time. And it won't just break, it'll break stuff.

It seems the idler and tension pulleys seize up and do in the belts -- and, like Flex says -- break stuff.

Change the thing, check the pulleys and sleep well. Otherwise, I agree - it'll probably last a long time.

Replace it, when I did my A/C compressor I ordered a Motorcraft belt from RockAuto something like $20....easy change just need a 1/2” breaker bar. Where to fish it is printed on the hood so it’s pretty self explanatory.

I'm with others get rid of it now, their cheap enough, and having it break on Christmas Eve will ruin your night. Belts are supposed to be changed with hoses at a minimum every 4 years or 50k. Weather and just time deteriorates the rubber and causes failure. The Mrs and the kiddies will thank you when they get home ok.

I'd change it out and stick the old one under the seat for when murphy's lookin' for blud!
Good idea and I will put a 1/2" breaker bar with it. I think I may add that combo to my onboard tool kit for the 2014EL. My OEM belt lasted 12 years and 165K miles. Replacement is shot in 3 years & 13K miles?

When my snowmobile drive belt blew, it beat a wiring harness to death and I needed a sharp knife to extract it. Id prefer to replace before it fails.

I think we have some new mods. I really only notice a few. Stamp is by far the most knowledgeable imo and is really the only one I’ve dealt with with. Mr10kWatts or whatever his name is now is pretty good too....not sure who’s *ing everything.

If you feel the need to use profanity do so in a private conversation. There isn't a need for it in public view since it doesn't add any information to the reply or post. We also have female members on here - another reason to keep it clean.

The level of professionalism on here is one of the merrits that sets this site apart from the others. Keep it clean, be respected and professional.

Being honest, depending on my mood and my current pain level, I will either notify the member to edit their post and clean it up, edit it myself and notify them of the change or just hit it with the delete option. And for those that are wondering, I only ban spammers.

The f word has been banned for years. Not sure why you think it's been just recently banned.

Mr sticker if you only got 3 years out of replacement belt, one of three things comes to mind. 1, you installed a cheap belt.2, theirs one of the pulleys has a sharp edge, or 3, a pulley is dragging, requiring replacement. And yes to Stamps guys keep it clean. A smart man told me years back, you can tell the level of education in a person by just talking to them for 5 minute's. Anyone can swear, but profanity is best left for the ****** bars, or bachelor parties. We've got a good group here, getting better all the time, more and more diverse. The word shoot, or damn, can be just as effective as well you know!

I think if someone ever invented a bra that totally stopped breasts from bouncing, he would be shot the first week it hit the market. Funny, bouncing boobs are fine, but not the language. An exposed nipple is just like those four lettered no no words, can't see them on public websites, or television. Maybe Tapatalk will come out with the equivalent of Hbo, or Showtime, then you pay, and swear all you want, but not here, not now.

Late to the party! Cracks going across are usually not a big issue. If cracks in the valley or top side needs to be addressed asap. Hope this helps.
Again changing it out is best. I use goodyears or second choice is daycos. They have a little give to keep squeaks Down. Cheap at Rock Auto and easy to change, no special tools. Just follow the belt pattern.
