I'll notice the battery idiot light flashing intermittently, not steady, but random. I check the voltage at idle and see 14.19 volts. The battery measures 12.7 when the motor is off. When I rev the motor over 1k rpm, the light goes away. 5 months ago I got a new battery. 4 months ago I installed a new voltage regulator. Connections to the battery are tight and gunk free.

Ideas anyone, of what to look for?

Sounds like the alternator. Light comes on at idle because it is not producing enough charge. As soon as the revs build, it comes out of the danger zone thereby turning the light off. You can have the alt tested and it is not hard to remove, that is where I would start.

As it turns out, the bolts on the bracket behind the alt were loose. Tightened them and no more battery light.
