Spark plugs

After wrestling with my 05' f-150 , which i recently traded in for an 05' expedition. I want to be proactive on the whole spark plug issue. My f-150 had 120,000 miles and i broke off two plugs and fought the rest!!! So knowing this going into the expedition I knew the first thing was to check the plugs.... pulled one today and they are the originals... did'nt look to bad and came out easy enough , truck is running great , 89,000 miles . So here is the question do i change them now or wait, and i see everyone says stay OEM, but is there any other alternatives. Or just anti -siez them and hope for the best next time around..... thanks for any help.....

If you're going to go to all the work to remove them any way, you may as well just change them out. The stockers are suppose to be good, but now there are also 1 piece plugs out there that should eliminate any breakage issues.

I think Champion makes a 1 piece design, though I've heard of some people having issues with them.

Just follow the TSB, and it shouldn't be too much of an issue. Also, I'd go ahead and change them. 89k miles is a bit much of OEM plugs (even though the manual says 100k.)

Change them now and load the threds with anti-seize! I have not heard about 1 piece plugs though.

Here is what the TSB says:

NOTE
NEW PLUGS SHOULD BE INSTALLED USING A
FILM COATING OF MOTORCRAFTâ HIGH
TEMPERATURE NICKEL ANTI-SEIZE LUBRICANT
ON THE GROUND ELECTRODE SHIELD. DO NOT
COAT THE ELECTRODE STRAP. (FIGURE 7)

What are the brand names for the ones that are one piece?

Brisk Racing makes a one-piece design, but aren't cheap. They are about 50% more than the Motorcraft plugs, and run about $18 a plug.

If those are the ones that I think they are, they don't last long, either. Not worth it. Just get the OEM ones, and apply them per the TSB (anti-sieze on the electrode shield.) They come out a lot easier afterwards.

Just my two cents here:

I have for thirty years used anti seize on every plug i have ever installed. Too many makes and models to recall them all. Never had a single issue with them. 2002 models, like mine, are known to spit a plug due to short threads. Still after 44 k miles, no problem.

Not sure if you have any custom tunes or not. If so, you may talk to your tuner to see which plugs he/she tunes for.

I use Brenspeed for my blown 06 GT Mustang and I called them last week and they will tune my 04 Expedition (XCAL 3 SCT Tune). They asked about plugs, etc.

Just thought I would mention it.

Any good aftermarket websites with decent plug? What sites do you guys frequent that specializes in these motors.
