Has anybody here tried these LED tail lights from Spec-D? They are sold by CARiD, who is one of the preferred vendors here. I have seen what appears to the same thing on eBay for about half the price. The pictures are kind of poor so I am hesitating to buy them.

If you have any installed pictures and what they look like with brake lights and parking lights on, I'd love to see the pictures and hear about your experiences with them.

This is a picture I copied from CARid's website.

Yesterday I pulled the trigger an bought a set of these Spec-D LED tail lights. I talked to them by chat last night and they gave me a 10% discount. The tail lights come with the resister and the backup bulb is also LED. I also bought the chrome tail light bezel to dress them up a little. In addition, last week I ordered the the 3rd window chrome strip that I will be getting later in the week. I think these two little chrome additions will finish off the truck and balance everything out. Not a big chrome fan but these two bright pieces will complete the look for me.

I have a set, but not SPEC-D. I'm skeptical that there are (were?) multiple aftermarket mfgs of these tail lights. Eagle Eyes was the name brand if I remember correctly on mine. 16 rear firing LEDs park/stop, 4 side firing LED park. I re-used my existing reverse lamp bulb IIRC. Zero issues after 6-7-8 years of use, hundreds of car washes. Just as bright as other OEM LED tail lights we have on other vehicles. Looks completely stock. Chrome on white looks good to me, so I think you'll be happy.

Occasionally pull a trailer with a polished aluminum rock guard on the nose. These LEDs are obnoxiously bright. But there is a good difference between park and brake mode, leaves no doubts to drivers behind you. (and 4 cars behind you...)

Only pics I have handy, unfortunately none illuminated.

Thanks Flexpedtion. Those look great. From the manufacturers pictures above you can see that they don't look to clear. I found cheaper pairs on eBay but I was concerned about the quality. Spec-D is supposed to be the manufacturer of these. LEDs are rated for 10,000 hours of use so we'll see. I paid about $80 more for these. We'll see if it's worth it. :)

Can y'all mention some $ numbers?

$218.10 for the tail lights - https://www.carid.com/spec-d/red-le...07rled-ks.html?singleid=12131353&url=89221105

You can get essentially the same thing on eBay for $138 if you want to roll the dice - http://www.ebay.com/itm/2007-2016-F...%3Ae3fdc7ae15e0abc2cd006d4ffffc1c00%7Ciid%3A1

$116.91 for the tail light chrome trim - https://www.carid.com/putco/chrome-tail-light-bezels-mpn-400864.html?singleid=255770&url=803937

I've not found anything like it on eBay.

From talking to the guy in the chat I was able to get a 5% discount.

They are a preferred vendor here and I felt comfortable with them so I went ahead and paid more for the tail lights because of perceived value.

...eh??

Anything advertised starting with 2007 will work....maybe even 2003+ will fit.

Most likely your high price was due to few vendors updating their ads

Also....not sure if that chrome will line up, and daaaaamn these guys do NOT kid around with their prices for two simple pieces of plastic trim

Also....based on the pictures, seems like the chrome would NOT line up with your custom aftermarket design of choice
Essentially anything Gen 2 or three fits the opening. The Gen 2 had the Back up Light on the bottom the 3rd gen had it in the middle and you are correct they are the same for 3rd gen. They just haven't updated most of the sites with that information.

The chrome will fit the outline of the 3rd Gen tail light and if I decide that I don't like it I have the option to send it back. We'll see how it looks once it get here.

Wait up, they HAD the backup lights lower down where they belonged, and THEN chose to screw it up LATER?????

Oh, I see what you mean. I had a 74 Honda Civic that my dad bought new in 74 and I kept it until 83 and then sold it. but that was way before Rice Racers. :D

I will Jeff. I'll create a new thread and include the chrome rear side window trim and tail lights and chrome trim. I generally don't set out to change the look of the vehicle and I'm not a big fan of chrome, but with all of the chrome on the vehicle already, it just seemed like there needed to be some on the back sides and tail lights to balance and match the front and the overall look. I guess once I have the new tail lights in, I might as well change out the last incandescent bulbs in the headlight cluster. and then it will be all LEDs.

It will make it look a little like the Platinum trim level without the obnoxious silver rockers. :)

Nah, I mean them spread-eagle cambered, wing-off-a-jumbojet on the trunk, nismo-stickered, sodacan-exhaust-farting, neon paint to match their stripper momma's plastic heels, no-good developmentally-arrested-at-age-16 punks....
