Has anyone had to replace the steering rack in their 2nd gen? My mom has been complaining of stiff steering in her 2004, and when I finally got around to test driving it, it was like the steering was missing a tooth. It would get hard, then easy, hard, then easy as i turned left and right.
Fluid isn't burnt, and I hear no power steering growl. We have an old jet boat that steered about the same way when we first got it, and the steering rack fixed that. Just wondering how big a job I'm looking at this weekend to do it.
Also, if you have had similar issues and it wasn't the steering rack, I'd love to hear those as well.
