My nephew has a 31K mile 2023 Expy 4x4 he bought new. Under factory warranty until September.

He is having the problem shown in bold below. It is currently at the the purchase / servicing dealer where it has been for over a week. They are telling him they can't find any problems. Has anyone had a similar problem with their Gen 4 and if so what was the issue and resolution?

There is a clunking or grinding in the front end. At slow speed turning steering sometimes gets locked up and won't turn much. Have to back up to unlock the steering wheel.

I found a front axle recall for pinions breaking because if improper heat treat, but this does not seem to fit. If the vehicle was under a recall it would pop up in Oasis or something in the front axle were broken, it would be easy to diagnose.

Any chance your nephew was trying to drive in 4WD (not auto) on dry pavement, while turning?

I thought the same thing, maybe it was left in Auto and engaging on its own. I spoke to him again this afternoon and he confirmed def not a 4WD issue. n. I thought it maybe was enabling 4WD on its own if it was in auto. Dealer is thinking it is related to dif. I looked at the differential recall and and it says only 4 Expeditions were involved.
