There is probably a seperate fuse to control the amp for the subwoofer - thats the first thing I would check. I am looking at a wiring schematic for my 2006 and it indicates the fuse located in the cenrtal junction box (CJB) fuse 31 20Amp = yours might be different - check the manual.

I have the Mach system on my 2001 and the sub went out like yours did. For me at least, it wasn't the actual sub, it was the inline amp. I had to order a new one from my dealer for something close to $100, but that fixed it right up.

My 98 explorer had the Mach system in it, the factory sub quit working and it was the sub itself. I bought a cheap replacement on ebay and it dropped right in, worked great.

I took the sub box/compartment thing apart and volt-tested the amp which told me the amp was bad. Not sure about the sub, but I think if the cone is ripped (these have paper cones), it won't work at all. Don't quote me on that one though. Maybe volt test the sub itself?

Mine's blown, it sounds good at low volume, but when I turn it up, it sounds like butt. Also cuts out now and then, it'll work for 2 weeks then quit for 3 days, loose wire, whatever, not real concerned.
You can get after market boxes to replace them, they are custom built for to fit inside the quarter panel. My explorer had the same problem, but I just disconnected it and threw 2 twelves in the back. It all depends on how much you wanna spend, and how important it is to you. My subs made a great coffee table in the garage.

Yeah. I just bought my Exped last night. I did not check the stereo. The sub does not work. Oh well.
