On the explorers, sometimes soda or stuff will get spilled and it will gum up. What my point is....get you some of that electronics cleaner...the stuff they use for circuit boards and such, it's a spray, an aerosol can of stuff (NOT the PC duster shit, that's NOT it), and spray some on the rod and the interlock mechanism to see if it clears it up...
I bought a used solenoid (nobody sells new ones) and I have a new brake light switch coming plus it it all stated worked again yesterday and I have that cleaner already and should be able to tell if a previous owner spilled junk down in there but I will keep it in mind, thanks for that idea..

We didn't quite know that they didn't make those parts for the navi anymore....glad you told us like 17 times. LOL

It started working again eh? Sure you just didn't know what in the hell you were doing in the first place? LOL

All these years of mechanical expertise and you didn't already think to use the spray cleaner on it? Sheesh...woulda' been the first thing I tried.

I'm just bustin' your balls a little...lighten up. Don't take the internet so personal, it's not that big of a deal.

There's more than way to remove a spark plug from an engine, ya know. ;)

Thanks I just bought a Motorcraft brake/stop light switch from ebay for $15 and free ship plus a used solenoid just in case. I bought a laptop just so I could use forscan but most of the foescan vendors say it won't work on my year (and maybe all) Navigater so I turned around and sold it (the laptop).

What's the reasoning behind the alleged inability to use forscan?

(hint; it's untrue. forscan works on navigators just as it does expeditions and explorers and all else made in the last few years)

I 3d printed a clip that goes in there to hold the solenoid out. I don't have kids so I don't need that safety, plus I'm old enough most of the vehicles I've owned didn't have that thing anyway.

I thought Navigators were mostly driven by older folks who drink their instant coffee with their pinky waving in the breeze, who only use it to go to the golf course, or urban thugs with big speakers and bigger wheels throwin' signs and clappin' fools?

Or am I thinkin' of those pesky Escalade drivin' folks?

Thanks, it worked fine for a couple days and now it's sticking in park again. I imagine there are ways to jam it up so it works but I have a brake light switch and a used solenoid coming is it's going to be a screw diver on the emergency button for a while.

Hint; I wouldn't have gotten rid of the laptop if I thought I could use it. Don't you think I researched it first?

Funnily enough, a fast google search shows all kinds of positive results for people using forscan on their navigators. Maybe your laptop is incapable...or maybe you are?

Hmmm..

Dude. An 07 navigator is just a trashy blinged up expedition. Same programming, same drivetrain.

Remember your oil filter adapter? It fit your special navigator just fine, right? You could have probably even jammed a wire in beside the same fuse in an expedition.

Quit acting like you have something so unique.

I'd rather they were more alike actually. Many things fit one but not the other like the parking lock solenoid. Maye you think the Navi is unique..............whatever.

Maybe you didn't read. Maybe you should take a class on etiquette.

I read just fine. You keep whining about navigator this, navigator that, like you're special and it takes special shit that no other vehicle uses. Get over yourself.
You're the one that needs etiquette...always interjecting your BS about how your method is better when it's more work or more half-assed than someone else's way.
You CAN use Forscan for your damned chrome plated driveway art. As I said, either you don't know what the sam hill you were doing or your laptop was a *************, or both.

I've got a shit-assed old HP laptop that I used Forscan with on my '06 Exploder. No issues. I also said get over yourself. Read THAT.

You're the one crying about how stuff doesn't work for it. Forscan. Parts made. It ain't unique.
