The 3+ year old battery kept slowly going dead in my 2007 XLT EL. I was going to Home Depot and the battery was dead so I charged it the night before. Went off to HD and while there it went down enough I had to call AAA to come and jump start it.

Partway home it just died completely and I had AAA haul it home. I put the charger on and the meter went all the way over. "Ah, must be the battery has shorted." So I bought a new battery. Started right up. Next day it's dead again. I disconnected the negative cable and connected my charger to + and the disconnected - cable. The meter went *almost* all the way over.

Is there a common electric fault on this generation Expedition I should look for?

Somewhere there's a pretty large draw all the time and I've no idea where. So much more... stuff... with electrical in the 21st Century than in ye olden days.
