BE CAREFUL you may want to disconnect the connector at the transfer case and check to see if your getting full voltage to the shift motor. Also you may want to use extra wire to do this so that your not under the expy then switch into 4H and 4L to check the voltage or pull the shift motor and check it on a bench

I took the easy way out and took it to the Ford dealer. Figured it will sit for a month or so and I will dick around with it when I have spare time at work, or pay for a bit of diag and figure out the issue. Anyway, Ford says it is the TC shift motor. Asking 275$ for the part. Had one of our parts guys find an aftermarket motor for 75$. It is a Dorman product. I'd prefer to stick with OEM parts, but can't fork out the cash at this time, due to a dead washing machine. What do you guys suggest?

I get most of my parts like that from the salvage yard! Pennies on the dollar:smile: make sure you have someone with you and take some jack stands if you pick it yourself.

Ill probably get an aftermarket motor for now, and if it doesn't last, I will just get an OEM motor from the dealer. Gotta put the Expy on back burner for now. Washing machine died. At least I know what is wrong with it though, and it's not an expensive fix.

Update. Purchased an aftermarket tc shift motor for the Ford and installed it earlier this afternoon. Easier than I thought. Anywho, test drove it around the loop and down the road. Runs like new, and shifts in to 4wd, and 4low. I can finally drive the Expy now. What a relief.
