Maybe, maybe not. Ford is trying to expand its market reach to new customers who have never purchased Ford. And they really needed to cause GM was selling literally TEN times as many Tahoe/Suburban and variants as the Expedition. Given this, people not familiar with Ford understand what a “Platinum” trim level means. Many other auto manufacturers use it and it makes sense to a lay person.

But “King Ranch”? It’s not so obvious what that means to a person who’s never owned a Ford.

IMO King Ranch should be available. It’s still much more recognizable and has a road presence the platinum doesn’t have. Not to mention in the pickups the King Ranch interior kills the platinum, nice color tones and real leather all the way around, no fake vinyl look alike. The KR is undeniably Ford.

In espect and agree. What has kept Ford a viable player is brand loyalty through generations. IF they truly want a new market and different consumer which is willing to look in the price points that are now being offered, they will have to do exactly what Dodge did and split it's market segments and rebrand.

Chevy did this and made a much nicer looking bow tie, and the ERA of the blue oval being attractive is dead.

You would be super surprised how many people get turned off by something as meaningless as a badge, emblem, or label.

Ford bring back the kr with the f250 leather. The kr is recognizable to all us expy lovers and it was always the most attractive trim in terms of looks and value. Its easy, take a 302a, put in the plat seats, add kr leather, put the satin mirror caps and roof bars on, put king ranch specific wheels(20s std, 22in option) kr badge, add skid plates and satin or chrome colored trim pieces on the bumper , running boards, and rear trim. After you build it ford, send me a check so i can go buy one lol

And to top it off the platnium truck tailgates are horrifically out of place.

Then again the stereotypical powerstroke guy in their alumidooooty usually end up looking at my tailgate anyways lol.

Hell no they need to send you royalty checks for the concept!

Let' not forget Ford originally stole the invention of the windshield wiper lol.
