In western New York we are getting absolutely blasted with lake effect snow right now.......I cannot see the neighbors house. Just arrived home a bit ago and the expy is completely covered in 6” of snow ALREADY! I cannot begin to tell you how much I appreciate this truck in snow.....pop it in 4A or 4H and the thing is just great. Great control and acceleration. It will be staying parked for a while now.

On the drive in this mess I started sliding on a long winding turn....to correct normally you steer into the slide.....that wasn’t a viable or safe option with where the truck was headed. Out of nowhere AdvanceTrac kicked in the got it under control in no time. I was happy to see that sliding car icon in the message center like an old friend.

First time it’s really saved me to my knowledge from a possible wreck.....just throwing it out there....sometimes we pick on these nannies but sometimes that strict nanny will bail you out of a tough spot.

.that wasn’t a viable or safe option with where the truck was headed.

Doesn't that SUCK when you realize it? LOL......

I'm happy that you didn't trash your truck, or worse. People say what they want but the tech we have today has lowered the incidence of accidents & therefore "life & limb" considerably in my driving career.

side note; That Armada's v8 is "like an old friend" to me after two years of driving the 3.5! I am as surprised as anyone but that v8 kicks it in the ass and I do like that added flywheel weight. My TT is fast, for a stock truck but the Armada's v8 is every bit it's match.....from any gear, any speed....it does pretty well without feeling like it's working too hard. It freely revs and at 4k rpm....well, it's a lot like 4k in my truck....you might want to be pointed in the right direction! I knew that you, of all the folks here, would appreciate that V8 shout out!

What on earth are you doing in a large truck with a V8 spinning at 4k RPM??

If you wanted a diesel bimmer, go rent a diesel bimmer and shred some tires

Screw the cold.....leaving tomorrow evening for warmer temps. I'll come back Monday when it's supposed to be 58F.

The Armada has a 6K redline....this puts 4K in the meat of the powerband!

I didn't take a pic. But -10 on the way into work this am. I'm sure those mid west folks have some interesting temp pics in their cars. It took a few extra revolutions for the motor to start. Its parked outside.

I don't miss the days of carburetors where you had to pump the gas and start it 4 or 5 times.

You guys are going to hate me, but I'm just getting into the SUV after being on my camp chair here at Lake Merced here in San Francisco. It's about 64 degrees, we had some rain yesterday, but not the hell you guys are enduring. Oh yeah no wind either.

Today it was -13F by the Expy temp sensor while I was scraping the windshield. Then I must have hit some cold air on the commute that dropped it to -18F. Can't wait for the upper 40s coming in a few days. I never thought I would feel like that was warm but I may be wearing shorts that day. LOL

I'm sure the midwest or Canada guys got much colder temps.

Edit don't mind the ford quality. That button fell off & never did find it to glue back on. It works without it but it's not pretty.

Maybe putting up with all the fruits & nuts is worth it for that weather. I lived in FL 19 years and recently moved to NY from Alabama. It's not fun but walking the dogs and gearing up has allowed us to acclimate.

The cold in New York gives new meaning to your neuterd male pups, of freezing your nuts off! Sorry, that was bad.

Today I drove in 2H instead of 4H as the roads are getting better...while still many being compacted snow they are clear.

I know it’s done but I couldn’t live with a 2WD in this climate. It’s painful to drive in 2H to say the least....rear wheel spin and traction control galore. Makes accelerating a chore on slick roads. Then around turns you are more prone to sliding without the front pulling. Holy cow, I had to set it to 4A because I couldn’t take it anymore.

No lifesaving events from AdvanceTrac, but I had one a couple years ago w/ DSC (Dynamic Stability Control) in the wife's Mazda. I was going around an S curve coming down the mountain that connects us to the nearest city and I hit a patch of black ice. The car started to go sideways right towards a very steep, fairly deep (~40') ravine with no guardrail. The DSC kicked in and righted the car like nothing ever happened.

3F degrees OMG freaking heck
it was 27 here and i about froze solid taking the dog out

We hit -8F the other day. It rarely gets that cold here; it was awful. I practically had to drag some of my dogs out to get them to go to the bathroom.
