all the wonderful info. Every time I have a problem, I come here to post it and the problem and answer has already been posted. I do have a problem that I remember seeing posted before, but I can't find the thread with the search function. Recently, my driver side door has ceased to lock. The the latch still actuates perfectly, but the door doesn't lock. I removed the door panel but everything looks normal (nothing disconnected). I don't want to remove the passenger door panel to compare if I don't have too. Are there any ideas as to why this happened or how to fix it?

Yes, the latch moves up and down via the button inside, the keypad outside and the key chain thing, but the door never locks. I used a screwdriver to move the actual locking mechanism on the door and it moves freely as well. Although I removed the door panel, I have nothing to reference it to without removing the passenger panel. Everything (that I can see) looks fine and appears to be connected.

okay so everything shows that the door locks but when you go to see the door opens. got it. i dont know much about doors but you might have to take the door panel off and take off all the plastic so you can get to the hole and look inside and see if it is all connected.

Maybe a spring inside the mechanism broke, or some internal component, let us know what you find out either way.
