That could be the problem?!

I had my brakes lock up on me when I went into reverse after it sat for a few weeks. I felt sure my parking brakes were fudged up but then I felt badly pulsating brake pedal when driving. Rotors / calipers??

So I pull the rear rotors today. One was a biotch. It was so tight the adjuster wheel would not loosen. The other basically about fell off. Take a look at the photos and you will understand why. A little of preventitive maintainance may have helped avoid this.. Well..... the shoes did have some pad left.. :/

The rotor on this side came off easy... lol.

Difficult to tell from this point of view but the shoe is bent.

No. It is not supposed to be bent like that! Retaining pins were bent badly as well.

What is not obvious is all but one of the pads were loose and floating around. Just put them into place for the photos.

Fairly certain it took out one or both of the rotors as well when it occured just cannot tell visually. This would explain the pulsating brake pedal. Will replace rear rotors as well and hope that takes care of it.

Always heard things happen in 3's so hopefully after my brakes are done and the ticking is taken care of I will be good for awhile. Already replaced my failed fuel pump..

sounds like you've got a full plate this week. thankfully I've almost cleared my issues. just need a radiator then I can go to addons!

also, I had an issue with my e brake and was quite surprised to learn about what a "drum in hat" was. luckly they just needed to be adjusted out some.. my first experience with drum brakes was with the parking brake with my expy

Mine have been bad since I started driving the truck 5 years ago! Push the pedal in and nothing changes. Probably just need to be adjusted, but I have never been worried about the truck rolling down a hill so I just haven't messed with it. I know probably not the safest or wisest, but I rarely park on hills either haha.

Well..... I am here to tell you the pads can come loose and potentially bind things up?!

But I do use my parking brake and maybe that's the difference.
