Ticking Noise when I accelerate

I have an 06 expedition 2WD. I hear this tapping noise that gets louder as I accelerate. It is also there when I idle and shift through all gears. The sound seems to be coming from the front part of my Transmission or the back end of my oil pan, right in that area. My oil and tranny fluid levels are fine and have no fluid leaks underneath. What do you think it is?

It could be many things, better to get a stethoscope and zero in on it.
Could run from a bolt backing out to a bad bearing or piston slap among others things.

Is it a light tap, solid knock or the dreaded metallic whack?

Had a neighbor that had a F150 with over 400.000 on the clock. Started tapping one night. He rev'd it up and held it for at least 20 secs. Right up to the point a rod snapped and poked a hole into the block. Found it!!!!!
