Hello. Our expediting came with privacy glass in the back windows. Is there tint already on the factory windows that needs to be removed? Or can they just tint on top of the way it is.

The glass itself is tinted. No tint film on the windows. You’re good to go.

The guy who tinted my windows (all around w/ 20%) told me the factory embedded window tint didn’t actually block any UV radiation.

Said it was more privacy focused rather than keeping it cool.

Dclr is correct. Just tint, no UV. I put 70% ceramic with UV on rear doors, back (side) windows and rear window. Makes it slightly darker, but I wanted the UV protection. Also tinted fronts with 30%.

I’ve had additional tint applied over factory tint on multiple cars. The rear windows almost get a limo tint appearance- even at 30% additional.

And spend the extra money and get ceramic tint.

Haven’t decided to do anything just yet on the expy. Have a metal tint on our car that blocks uva.

This can’t be stated enough... pony up and do every window sans windshield.

I tinted my windshield with clear tint. Works very well and you can't even tell it is there. Legal in TX.

I plan on getting tint put in mine as well, 18 Limited. It has the privacy glass, too. My 2 front windows have film in them that the original dealer installed (and charged the original owner more for tinting 2 windows than what I was quoted for the entire car! ) I'm going to have that film removed and redone.

The correct answer is to put 15% or 20% over all factory tinted side glass. 5% goes on the visor, rear glass, and two front side windows. You are welcome. Anything less and you are driving around in a sunroom and with zero privacy.....and folks coming up behind you still illuminate the inside of your vehicle. I have been using Llumar for years.

If I’m not mistaken the tint on the windshield will interfere with the Navigator HUD so I left it out.

Has anyone had the panoramic sunroof panels tinted? I'm getting ceramic tint installed Tues, want to ask him about doing the roof as well. Already over 110 in Phoenix and, even with the sunroof screen closed, a lot of heat comes in. Is tint on sunroof even possible?

Oh, another tint question: I had a '08 Expedition and had a tint strip placed on top of the windshield, thinking about having same done on '18 BUT I have the rain sensing wipers (which aren't working, yes, turned on). Will a tint strip hinder that sensor (or navigation, as someone else mentioned)?

On top of the windshield how? A strip across the top? I'd get your tint place to trim around the sensors if you are set on it. I didn't realize tinting the sunroof was a thing until about a week ago. When my truck goes back for the dechrome i'm going to get them to put some ceramic on the sunroof. The as sunroofs get bigger and bigger this makes sense.

It does not interfere with the HUD. I have a Navigator and a Genesis with HUD and tinted windshields and the HUD works fine. If in doubt, have them do a test piece over the HUD section and test it.

Will the heated windshield wiper wires cause the tint any problems? I have never checked how hot they get but it will clear a strip above and below them when the window is frosted over.

What tint % did you have on the sunroof? I want the heat and UV protection but still want to be able to see out of them at night.

We put 20% ceramic everywhere. We can actually drive around with it open during the day without the kids getting blinded. Finally enjoying it.
