I have a 2002 5.4 xlt 2wd. Tires are a 255-70r-16. S speed rating. 109 load index. Question I have is , Can I put a larger size tire on the vehicle without causing problems? My goal is to put more rubber on the ground and maybe fill the wheel well a bit. I also want to stay with the wheels I have.

you should be able to run 32s they will fill your wells, just stay under 10.5 wide, i would recoment doing a daystar, or a traxx 2/3 level kit and maybe some 33s, great combination, but if you plan to go higher in the near future, be carefull, i put in a 2/3 level kit and brand new 32 super swampers, and 3 weeks later ordered a 3 inch body lift, now i need to replace tires again and get 35 or 36 inch tires, better off doing it all in one shot,
1) level kit $200
2) body lift $175
3) new tires $500-1400 depending on what you want, i bought 4 super swampers, 32/9/16 jc whitney they were $680. but very aggressive,

Haha.I did the exact same thing. Bought some nice 31's that looked good with the truck, then a few months later added the 5 inches of lift, and had to go buy 35's. Now I have some brand new tires just sitting on my deck.
