New "Expy" owner and new to the forum. I bought a 2011 EL Limited! Very nice ride, but still has a truck feel to it, which I like. It had 28000 miles on it and the tires look like they are about 1/2 worn. It has 275/55/20 Pirelli Scorpion STRs on it. I have read so many differnt ratings and reviews on these tires. It really has me wondering if Ill be buying tires soon. Im not crazy about the tread anyway but I was going to keep them for a while for the sake of $. Anyones experiece with these tires would be greatly appreiciated.

They aren't that bad but then again I'm in Florida. I will tell u this though, when they start to wear they suck in the water.

On our 2007 I replaced with Scorpion ATR's when the STR's went south. I could tell very little difference in MPGs or noise. (They were quiter than the STR's that came off, but I assume the STR's where louder than when new.) Of course, I got a deal on the ATR's, so the cost was nice.

I have also had Continental ContiTraction and Michelin LTX tires on full size SUV's in the past. The Michelins were nice but expensive. The Contis were just OK.

Thanks for the info. I guess I will ride them out and replace them with something a little more aggresive when they wear out.

I had some on my F-150 about 10 yrs ago. I hated them and replaced them long before it was time. They had zero traction on anything less than dry concrete and were noticeably worn after 10k miles. I had some mud tires, Pro Comp X-Terrains that lasted over 50k, even a tril from TX to Alaska.

Welcome.

No experience on the Scorpions, but offer:

+1 on the Michelin's (LTXMS2). I'm on my second set of Michelin's.
Rotate every 5K miles using the 4-wheel (backs to front, fronts to opposite rear).
Was able to get 76K out of the original Goodyears, and 74K out of the first pair of Michelins.

i like the goodyear forteza tripple thread

I've heard that the Fortera tires wear quickly on lthe heavier SUVs and drop your mileage. They are supposed to give a quieter, better ride aren't they? How's your wear and mileage been?

I love them. The ride is quieter and smoother and mpg didn't go down. The tread wear is great. I put 15k miles on them per year when I had the stocks on and the tread kept up. I put them on in 07 and took them off in 2010 and the tread left would last another 2-3 yrs
