I have been thinking about this for about a week now and the other thread about what to do around the temp sensor sparked my memory...



What if the circular part of the trailer steering control were magnetic? That seems like a great place for a phone, especially on the Navi because it is angled up a few degrees. The knob is 1.75" but there is a taper. Anyway... I picked one of these up with some 3m tape. If it works and I like it I'll wrap it Black. I might return it if the hole in the middle isn't big enough. I'll post pics when it comes in...

That's a great use for the knob, but I haven't found I need to see my phone while driving when carplay is in use. I'd still like to see a pic when you get it working.

Magnets came in today... For some reason the 3m tape didn't ship til yesterday... Ugh. I have to go to the auto parts store today anyway, might just grab some. I got two sizes... I like the look of the small one but it is smaller and thinner so the pulling power is also less. If you have the phone plate on the exterior of your phone it would be plenty but with the otter box case I'm currently using the big magnet allows me to use the small plate so wireless charging still works.

The truck is going in for dechrome a week from tomorrow or Monday depending on when the material arrives. I'll get them to throw some wrap material on it and black it out...

After some thought I might just buy another small magnet and wrap them together so I get more pulling power with the smaller footprint.
