I have a question on setting up 2010 Expedition EL for towing. I will be picking up a dual axle enclosed trailer with brakes. Of course I will be adding a brake controller with plug and play cord. Is that all I need or are there relays/ fuses I need to install as well?
I know on my 01 I installed the controller and also had to install a couple of relays in factory location under the hood.

Ok
Answered my own question. Broke out the owners manual and checked all fuses and relays in power distribution block. Relays for trailer brakes and trailer battery charging were in place. Wheather factory or installed by PO I don't know. No sign of brake control being installed under dash though. Also still have brake control pig tail unopened in jack compartment.

I had a 2011 that I added a brake controller to....the controller came with the needed pigtail so I never used the one that came with the Expedition. Pretty easy. I did end up upgrading the struts for towing as well.

I haven't read about upgrading struts on what sounds like a tow equipped Expy.
What struts did you upgrade?
What was the upgrade?
Why did you upgrade?

I used an Insight Flexmount in my 2005 model. The module mounts under the console, display just to the left of the HVAC controls, and I used a HD velcro like stick on mount for the control unit just above the driver's right knee.

Another one that's easy to hide and reasonably priced is:

Looks like it requires drilling the dash or console to mount the control knob and light though.

There are several wireless controllers now available. You might want to try the Curt Echo. It simply plugs in between your truck 7 pin trailer connector and the trailer connector. Pairs with your phone over Bluetooth, and you use a phone app to control it. Can't be easier, you just need to keep your phone out on the dash/console.
