The parking lot at wally-world. Feb 14th, 2010. My single a$$ went up to get some butt napkins cause I was runnin low, (what else is a single guy to do on Valentines day?). Got back in the truck, started it, gunned it out of the parking lot and that's when all hell broke loose. I swear I saw a piece of the u-joint go flyin out from under the truck,
When I gunned it, the cracked trailing arm snapped causing the axle to twist, also cracking the other trailing arm, which was in bad shape, too.
Snapped the u-joint, dropped the drive shaft, heard it down there floppin around and all I could think was, "That had to be the tranny".
Sure enough, upon forcing myself out of the vehicle to look, (took everything I had), the driveshaft was down on the ground floppin around like a fish out of water. Funny part was, she still drove. Bein AWD, the front wheels were able to pull her. Of course I only went a foot like that. Ended up runnin like 700 bucks.
WARNING TO ALL!! CHECK YOUR TRAILING ARMS IF THEY ARE ORIGINAL! DON'T END UP LIKE I DID!
WARNING TO ALL SINGLE GUYS! STAY HOME ON VALENTINE'S DAY IF YOU"RE SINGLE!

now thats a party! haha that sux man. ive only seen that happen twice. both times on the same truck. in the desert this guy was climbing a very loose and steep hill and you hear crack and dirt everywhere. his lower link broke by the axle which binded his axle and broke his drive shaft. he got winched up the hill welded the link put a new cv shaft in cause the drive shaft was fine and went all weekend like that. until he went on one last trip b4 flat towing his truck home. i was further away this time same thing but this time the other lower link. idk what happened but his rig was cursed. he still has it. new links all around and drive shaft. i wish i had pictures.

but ive noticed that my links are rusted so i gotta change them soon too. either make my own or get junk yard ones.

Mine were rusted. I got a pair with the hardware from the junk yard for I think $80. They pulled them for me.

You have to cut one bolt off and replace it, unless you want to drop the tank.

Hi I just looked at mineand they're rusting through too.

did you replace yours with Ford one or did you go with aftermarket? It seems like no one makes aftermarket one.

I was on 3rd shift when it happened, apparently I must have been half asleep because I don't recall telling the shop to fix it. I found a set on ebay for 200 for BOTH arms. The next day the shop called and said it was ready. They put Ford's on it. 179 i think for each one.
