Have this issue when at low speed, between 30-45 mph.

Rattle/grinding is very rhythmic. On a couple seconds, off a couple seconds. Car loses power and if I don’t let off the accelerator, the engine will rev up.

When letting off the accelerator and after four or 5 “rattles”, it goes away and power is restored.

Local shop could not replicate, and could only detect low diff fluid and topped it off.

Been driving fine for the last three days.

I also noticed the current gear indicator was not being displayed in the cluster and pressed the + button next to the gear shift dial until it was…not sure what “mode” it is in when the gear indicator in the cluster is off or if that had any effect.

This is not a 4x4. Any thoughts?

107k miles. I figured it was the transmission. Trying to find folks with the same issue to determine if I need a trans rebuild or replacement or if there’s a simpler fix?

it could be the cdf drum. It you search for cdf drum, neutral out, and rev, it will likely bring up other posts with similar issues.

Welp…Ford service said it was the transmission due to loss of line pressure and is recommending a rebuild or replacement. No extended warranty. Service rep is suggesting I open a claim with Ford and ask for “assistance” on the rebuild or replacement. Anyone have success with that?

Didn't you say it went away after topping off the tranny fluid?
