When accelerating after slowing to approx. 40 mph, feel significant bumping. Does not occur when overdrive is not engaged. 1999 2wd 4.6l. 115k, transmission fluid has been
changed within last 3 months. HELP !!!

Did you have the trans fluid just drained and new trans filter put on, or did you have them suck "all" of the old fluid out and put new fluid in? If you just had them drop the trans pan and change the filter, then they only drained out 4 or 5 pints of the 16 pints in the transmission. Total transmission fluid exchange service fixes alot of these strange trans problems. I just had it the service done a couple of weeks ago.

Verified yesterday that the fluid was sucked out and replaced with the ford specified fluid.

Could be the torque converter, could be an ignition problem (e.g., bad plugs, plug wires, coils.).

After reading other post, I should have said "shudder" instead.
