Triple Peak Tires - BTG KO3 or Pirelli Scorpion WeatherActive

I have a new 25 Platinum Ultimate that I just purchased. Where we live we need to have triple peak tires on our autos in the winter. My go to tire for years has been the BFG KO2. I have them on my Tremor and Bronco. We have always chosen those because of the ability to have some off road performance as we do drive off road from time to time. The Expedition we had prior to the 25 was a 22 Timberline with guess what? BFG KO2's. LOL. So here is where I wanted a bit of advice/discussion. Given that we have 2 other very off road capable vehicles, I am wondering if I want to go the KO3 route or something different. The Pirelli Scorpion Weatheractive tires have caught my attention and the pricing is very good ($1,015 for 4 of them). Pricing isn't the major driver, but good snow performance and all around performance with low noise (more of a road tire) is important to us. I have already picked up a set of new take off F150 Platinum black 22" wheels with Hankook Dynapro AT2 tires with 500 miles on them. The 24" tires simply do not have enough tire choices for us and we prefer a little more profile on our tires. So what does everyone think? Im having a hard time buying another rock chucking tire for 1 or 2 off road trips a year. Maybe the WeatherActive is the way to go this time.

This is more for others coming here that dont have the ultimate, since these unfortunately dont come in 24", but take a look at the cooper discoverer road+trail tire rack did an AT bakeoff and they were at the top. I got them for my f150 and so far i have been happy thus far.

Still worth checking out this video for you considering they tested the KO3's, among others.

Try the step below the K02s, I think they're called trail terrains. I live at 7500 feet in Northern New Mexico and they did really well on my 2wd work truck in the snow and much quieter than the KO2s on my wife's 2016 expedition. Not quite the same snow performance, but if you've got a bronco you don't need the KO2s on the expedition

My Platinum Max SPP (22" wheels) is in production today and I am thinking about how to replace those factory tires with something a little more aggressive and larger (and mild lift/level if it can be done with the CCD suspension).

ETA some tires from the test that I might consider, posting here to not lose my list.

2. Vredestein Pinza AT (maybe not, not in 22"?)

Cooper Discoverer Road and Trail AT's are great tires. Three peak snow rated and 65k mile warranty. I have them on our 21 w/ 22" wheels. I believe we have about 10k miles on them. They do great in the snow here in Northern MI (Gaylord).

Well, in the end I decided to go with an on road all terrain tire. In my case it was the Bridgestone Dueler Ascent selected based on the Tire Rack ratings. They are the best rated tire in this category. So far after a 8 hour trip - little to no rock chucking, no noise at all, good MPG. They have a bit of an aggressive look, but not too bad (I didn't think a super aggressive look would work on the expedition - works fine on my Bronco). Can handle periodic off road trails with no issue. It was the right blend for me of a vehicle that will be on the road 95% of the time.
