I picked up a Truxxx 3/2 spacer lift pretty cheap recently and started the install today. The instructions are not very good as there are plently of knuckle busting adventures that just cant be put on paper. I started with the front drivers side. It took about 3 hours mostly trying to get all the right sockets and wrenches laid out. Also spent a lot of time trying to remove the sway bar end link. The passenger side took only about an hour.
Well the rear was a disaster. I never could separate the tie rod. I tried a pickle fork and everything, it just would not move. Not deterred, I was able to wiggle the strut out with the tie rod still installed. I got the top bolted in, but the bottom had to be leveraged in to position. I had one person pushing down with a long breaker bar while I tried to manuever the mount into place. The 2 inch spacer pushed the strut down an additional 2 inches, so that means the bottom mount hangs down that much further. To line it up you have to pry the strut into place with a ton of force. If I could have gotten the tie rod out, then maybe I could have gotten it installed. After 4 hours and muscular atrophy setting in, I just reinstalled the strut without the spacer. I am going to have to pay a shop to do it. That sucks!
It does look pretty mean from the front even though it is sitting higher than the back. I will try to post a pic of the front. Does anyone know how much I could expect to pay to have the rear spacers installed? I will call 4 wheel parts on Monday since we have one here in Vegas and see what the damage is going to be. I was going to have them do the alignment anyway, so its OK I guess.
