Hi,

We had heavy rain the other day and while driving I could hear water. After looking around I realized it came from the rear passenger door. I removed a little plastic plug at the bottom and almost half a gallon came out. Could it be bad luck and being parked under heavy rain or a seal has come off? Other doors were not affected.

I have had the same thing happen with my 2011. I don't think it's normal to have that much rain enter the door but haven't addressed it yet. When I do, I'll post what the end result was.

Thanks, I agree. I guess I would need to take apart the door trim and check the seal, but then again it doesn't rain that often in So Cal.

Common issue with the 3rd gens (not sure about previous gens). It comes in at the window channel. I just leave the plug out as docraymund said.

My old 2003 had the same issue, only on the passenger side rear door. I removed the plastic plug, issue resolved.

I had the same issue with my '99 and it slowly rusted out the bottom of the door but I never had accumulated water like you did. My '03 used to get so much water coming in from: windshield, doors, sunroof that I drilled two holes in the bottom of each rocker panel, under the trim to allow the water to leak out! It was a bit of a surprise the first time I removed the rocker panel covers and found both "trenches" filled with wiring...also filled to the brim with water! Somehow, that didn't seem normal! I carefully blew out the front drains for the sunroof but it didn't make any difference. I removed the gaskets for the windshield and pumped in 4 tubes of silicone and that seemed to help....but the rocker panels always drained water after a rain.

I have an '07 and have the same issue. I found that the drain plug was getting clogged with debris so I ended up removing it. Haven't had the problem since and I live in Houston with 40+ inches of rain per year.

I had this problem on my 2012, and like others here, I simply removed the plastic plug things. I also live in Houston, which gets plenty of rain.
