weird sounds from under truck

i have a 2005 ford exp EB. im getting a knocking sound from the engine when its running,sounds like a delivery truck and there is this weird noise coming from underneath that sounds like 2 wrenches clanging together.Does anyone know of these problems or what they can be. All help appreciated, thank you

I had a problem with my '05 5.4 liter that had a knocking sound. It reminded me of a diesel engine. Pop the hood and see if you can determine exactly where it's coming from. Does it ever go away? Mine was coming from the passenger side valve train. Turns out it was a bad roller on one of the rockers and the cam lobe was beating it to death. Ended up having to replace the rocker and cam for that side because a groove was worn into that lobe. Surprisingly, it wasn't as expensive of a fix that I was thinking. Ended up getting it done for about $750 or so. ($330 for the cam and 420 labor if memory serves me correct).
