OK, first the particulars:
2001 Expy XLT, 4.6, 128K miles
I just had this thing serviced on Thursday, then proceeded to drive it to Georgia and back over the weekend, roughly a 1900 miles round trip. I have had no issues with this rig since I bought it in February and I've put almost 15K miles on it since then.
Now, skip to today. It has been raining miserably all day here, putting down about 3-4 inches of the wet stuff. My truck is parked outside, on a slight incline, nose up. I leave work at 4:30EST, and I notice that my wipers took a minute to kick on, but figured that I just wasnt paying attention. Then I noticed that my radio wasn't on and I always have it on. When I pushed the on/off button, I realized that it was not just off, it was OFF, because I didn't even have a clock showing. While sitting at a redlight, I put it in park to shut it off and restart it, figuring that it was some sort of gremlin. As I put it in Park, the radio came back on. Moved the selctor to Reverse, the radio went off, Neutral, it cam back on. Drive, it went off again. I should also note that when I did this, my wipers would stop for 30 seconds to a minute and then start again. I also noticed that my 4x4 indicator was flashing, but when the wipers stopped, it stopped. When the wipers started again, it began flashing again.
When I got home, I parked it on my lane on another incline, this time with nose down. An hour and half later, I come out and, with the switch off, I notice sounds coming from behind the dash. Electrical buzzing type sounds, kinda like an old pinball machine board, but muted (I know that sounds crazy as hell, but it is the best description I can think of). I start up the truck, the sounds go away and everything works just fine now. What the hell?
In March I had an issue with it sitting in a pouring rain for a day, but that turned out to be a bad COP that had gotten damp. No such issue this time. It runs fine and is throwing no codes...
Help?
