Hi,
I’m new to this site. Our 2014 with 204k miles basically has a failed engine. I thought about trying to get a junk yard engine and replacing it myself but its probably better to try to sell it as is and move on.
Any thoughts on what it may be worth in the current condition? $2k?
Also, any good suggestions on finding those types of buyers?
Thanks!
Dave

Depends on trim level and what the interior looks like, tire conditions, what else has been replaced on the vehicle......
I would say 2k is a good estimate.

Probably worth around 1K to 1.5K — just my take.

Personally, I’d go for an engine swap instead.

I think you can / should look at this 3 different ways

1) Find the value of you vehicle with miles and options and a good engine. Now find the cost of replacing the engine with a remanufactured unit with labor. Deduct the cost of engine replacement and that is value. If someone is interested in doing the work themselves, that is an incentive for them to purchase.

2) Sell it to a parts yard, if it is well optioned, they may pay a decent price as is.

3) Part it out and scrap the shell. Parts for these things have become expensive or no longer available. If your truck is in nice shape except for engine, you could take a little time and get a lot more money than 2K, parting it out. Fenders, Hood, Grill, Lights, Hatch, Seats, Trans, F&R difs tires wheels, ABS module, ECU, Radio. ETC ETC. Then scrap the shell for $250. Double the 2K or more, but by adding your time and labor
