Sorry all my Colorado friends. Today I washed, and clay barred and waxed mine.

It's sure to keep raining.

Got some nasty stuff off the lift gate. It was orange and gritty. Nice and smooth now though.

What did I do today? Well, I drove my new-to-me 28k mile 2012 Expy Limited to Florida and back from Atlanta, to Disney. Hauled 6 girls w/ me (wife and 5 kids - 2 mine, 3 friends). Truck did... AWESOME. Usually I swap out w/ the wife for driving duties, but no way - I did this whole trip (~7hr each way) myself, no fatigue or anything. Tons of room for the kiddos, stuff, and we did a respectful 16.1mpg on the computer - better than my 2011 5.7L hemi Grand Cherokee I traded in.

Dang truck was SO good on the road, makes me wonder... why the heck I didn't buy one of these YEARS ago!

What am I doing tomorrow? Wash, wax, vacuum the dirty beast! And then back to babying her! (Not really).

Ordered a front blend actuator to stop the horrible clicking in the '06 expy. Washed the '11 expy!

Tried fixing the sunroof. Gave up pretty fast when I realized how much time I'd have to spend removing the headliner to get to the back of the sunroof tracks to replace components. Whoever designed that friggin' track to only be serviceable from there hates people...
So i jammed it shut, siliconed all arount it to avoid leaks and that's the way it's gonna stay for a few years (or forever).

I've also ordered 2 Dorman idler pulleys off Amazon and will change them to get rid of a new noise that appeared under the hood these past weeks.

Changed the fuel filter. It might be all in my head but it seems to run and idle smoother. Most normal people wouldn't have noticed it running "rough" but what I was feeling seems to be gone now. To my surprise, the filter was a NAPA Gold so a previous owner apparently did a little preventative maintenance.

I have just been lusting after some mods for it, and since my F150 needs brakework and a seatbelt I will start driving the expy again.

Took it to the shop for an alignment and got back a $1800 quote to replace the upper and lower control arms on both wheels plus an inner tie rod (7h of labor plus parts). This feels waaaay too expensive given the part prices I saw online.

My mechanic doing the entire front end rebuild for me right now and I'll let you know how much he'd charging me when he finishes. Picking it up this afternoon.
I bought all the parts from online so it'll be interesting to see how much it'll end up being.

I know some of you are wondering right about now and saying how can you drop your car in to the shop and not get a price? Well...I've been going to him for twenty years and he is beyond reasonable.

Here is the list of what's being done.
Bought the 12 piece front end rebuild kit, new front shocks, replace the power steering gearbox, replace the brakes, recharge the Ac, coolant flush and oil change.
He is providing the pads and rotors but even with that I'd probably won't be paying more than $1000 for everything.

Today I had the front windows tinted to match the back (though one window is going to have be redone ... grrrr). I also changed the remote start settings so the car remains running when you open the door.

Finally washed the truck for the first time in too long.. I dont even get done when it starts raining. I just keep washing it until it lets up (about 8 mins) and not even 5 hours after I wash it the heavens open up again. Grr... at least I got all the pollen and whatever crap there was off it for the most part.

With this hail we have been getting the last couple days, some of my pin striping on the drivers door has been ripped off and is starting to look like crap. I took pics but it's on my camera so I will upload when I can. Has anyone found a suitable replacement for them that looks factory or is? I would normally be wanting to remove it but the front of the truck has a clear front protector/bra thing on it and some of the pin striping is underneath so that is out of the question. I suppose I will start looking on the factory website and see if it is even available.

Poor man's CAI :)
Cut the silencer off the intake. Used the caps from two vitamin bottles to plug the holes. I already had the Gotts mod and a K&N filter so she's breathing as free (and as loud) as she can now.

I've also changed an idler pulley that blew its bearing. The metal piece that's supposed to keep the bearing balls separated was completely gone. No idea how/where...
