not to me...not "way" better...nothing beats chrome...chrome make any vehicle automatically better...the black rims don't look bad...looks better in person...what adds to the look for the rims is that my windows are tinted so dark...I had the right amount of chrome on the truck...not too much...not too little...BALANCED

Chrome is definitely subjective.

I don't like chrome either. The 18s that were on mine when I bought it were "chrome" (if you could still call it that with years of brake dust caked on them) and couldn't have been happier when I got rid of them. I got black wheels, and while black wasn't my first choice (I like silver), it's way better than chrome. I didn't even sell those chrome wheels- the best $76 in scrap I've ever received.

I can take polished or machined but I can't justify the weight of having a chrome wheel. It's just too bright for me. And I agree, it's in the eye of the beholder. But I was glad to get rid of my chrome clad 20s. Just wish they had a true silver or machined finish instead of black.

Actually did it Monday. Ordered 4 new Pirelli tires for the KR and instead of having them shipped to me, my wife and I took a small road trip to Shreveport, La where TireRack.com has a distribution center. Picked them up, made a side trip to the Coushatta casino then came back home the next day and had them installed at my local shop.

Take two otherwise identical wheels, one painted and one chrome plated, the painted wheel will weigh more every single time. Insignificant milligrams more. Even more insignificant on 5500+ pound SUVs.

I wish I had a nickle or atleast 5 copper pennies (puns intended) for each time I've heard that chrome is somehow heavy.

Took the Expy to get an oil change today and put some air in the tires. Also added to some gumout with regane to my fuel tank to help clean out the motor a bit.

Either way, for me at least, anything bigger than an 18" was too big on mine. Hate paying a ton for tires. I would have gone 17" but got a good deal on some 18". And the cash I got for the 20" helped there as well. But like I said, to each their own. My cars go low and my trucks go high. Just the way I roll.
