Last night, after installing my subs, into my 99 EB, I apparently burned out my starter. Here is what happened. I turned the XPy on, it idled high(because i had disconnected the battery), so it did that, then went to the regular idle, then that is when i smelled something burning. I immediately turned off the XP and loooked EVERYWHERE for burning wires, and found nothing, luckily. But it didn't turn back on. I stayed awake ALL night trying to fix my problem. I bought a new starter solenoid this morning from Autozone and still nothing. Next i removed the starter(PITA) and got it checked at Autzone. Turns out it was no good. I went ahead and bought a new one. Installed it, and then the RPM gauge SHOT up to 7000K RPM's, but i know it wasn't running that high, but i also heard the starter spinning still. It stayed engaged and i burnt out the new starter. So now what do i do? What happened. Was it the subs that MIGHT have caused this? IF I RECALL CORRECTLY, i did remove the starter solenoid when i was looking for a hole in the firewall to run my power wire to my amp, and i think that is where the problem lies. I might have switched around the two cables on the driver side.
