So I did my first oil change today! While hanging out under my 2011 I ran across a hose that was loose. In the pic it is the one that runs to the black box on the left.

What is this??

Thanks

Just to clarify: I took this pic after I connected the hose to that white elbow.

looks like the EVAP canister to me. I haven't looked at the Ford ones but GM was known to have the purge valves fail and mine looked very similar. I am guessing there is a part number BL1Z-9D653-A somewhere on there. The hose should be a 9L3Z-6758-A and the elbow a 7L1Z9E629A.

Did it change the way the vehicle ran after you reconnected it?

It shouldn't change anything in regards to performance it is simply to help control emissions from the fuel tank. It should have thrown a SES light but looks like it did not.
