Does it make sense to go from a 17" wheel to a 16" wheel? I'm thinking of going to a 16" wheel because I like the meaty tire look where the tire looks bigger than the wheel if that makes sense. What wheel and tire combo's have worked well for you guys?

As long as the 16" wheel/tire combo has the same diameter as the 17" combo, you'll have no problems.

Another point to watch for is that the smaller wheel clears the brake components. As far as I know, the early Expeditions came with either 16 or 17 in. wheels so it should be ok.

Thanks for all the info, thats whats great about this forum. Someone always knows... Not sure yet what I'll do wheel and tire wise. I've been debating it with myself for about 6 months now lol. Cost is always a factor, probably should just get my lifts done and worry about it later.

If you are getting a lift, I would definately wait to buy tires until after it is done. I've made that mistake twice on 2 different trucks. . I ended up buying new sets of tires and then got a lift. Then within months , I wanted bigger tires to go with the bigger lift. Then I had a brand new set of tires just sitting there, and sold them for dirt cheap.

You think I would have learned after the first time. Doh!!!!
