Hi everyone, I am new to the forum, so feel free to correct me when I post silly questions...:) Recently, whenever I start the engine, the blower motor kicks in automatically at full blast up through the windshield defrost slots. When I try to turn down the fan speed using the up-down FAN switch, nothing happens (fan remains at full blast). Also, when I press the OFF button, fan still remains at full blast. When I redirect the air flow and try to control the fan speed, there is no response (still at full blast). I suspect the blower motor maybe stuck at full blast. Could it be the blower motor resistor is faulty? Could someone help me with this problem? Also, where is the blower motor resistor located on a 2004 EB? I removed the glove compartment but I couldn't find it as described for the 2000 model in an earlier post?

Any help would be appreciated!

nevermind! I found it.

Its located behind the glove compartment. The one on my EB has cooling fins attached to it that cools what looks like a power transistor attached to it. Got a new one from Ford dealer for about $65. Now the fan speed control is functioning normally.

Blower Motor Resistor?? Where??

I'm new to the forum as well...I've been able to do a lot of work on my 2004 Expedition EB, but this part is really confusing me... My fan speed control only works on high, not on any other speed setting. So I've got it narrowed down to the correct part, right, the blower motor resistor? :) But after spending almost an hour under the dash on the passenger side floor board looking up under the dash AND behind the glove box...I just had to come ask you guys for some help, PLEASE!!! If I cant replace this part myself, my wife is going to take it to the dealership and get charged too much money for something I should be able to do. :) Thanks in advance for any help you guys can give me...

-Take the trim cover to the fuse box (the one with sound damping on it).

Then take the screw off, take the part out, and disconnect the connector.

This is all "looking up". You'll pretty much have to put your back on the passenger floor, with your legs out the side, and look up in the the side. There shouldn't be too many connections that lead to parts that screw out.

Thank You Very Much!!

Thank you very much for all of your help!! I actually printed out the picture and took it to the dealership parts dept. and paid $ 67.00 for it. Changed it myself in about 10 minutes and it works perfectly now. Thanks again "ELVATO" for your time and help and providing a forum like this, if you are the one behind all of this... :)
